Hakone Open Air Museum

Although we left this until the last day and had to rush around it as a consequence, this was probably the best attraction we visited. I am much more partial to sculptures than other forms of art, and it was nice to see many of the English sculptor Henry Moore’s on display. I became very nostalgic for the Yorkshire Sculpture Park, where I spent many days during my university term and following.

I love these photos, which were made infinitely better by the strikingly clear sky. There was a quote of Moore’s in the museum (ironically indoors) to the effect of: “There is no greater background than the sky”. I couldn’t agree more.

The main focus of this museum is the large range of Picasso works that they have. Unfortunately many of these were in areas where photos were not permitted.

Have a better one.
